A month ago the Green Lake in Tragöß in Styria was completely dry. At the beginning of May the first melt water ran from the mountain – now the destination finally has its turquoise color back!
The excitement about the sad view at the start of a few weeks ago was great: for the first time in 60 years the popular styrics Karstsee was completely dry. He was like a sandy desert – the reason for this was the lack of precipitation.
Snow melt in progress
“This is a very, very rare phenomenon,” said Hubert Zinner, mayor of Tragöß-St. Catharein, the “Kroon”. The level of the turquoise natural jewel is highly dependent on the melting of snow on the mountains, but the water usually does not disappear completely.
Now the mayor and walker can breathe a sigh of relief: melting water from the mountains have been chatting again for two weeks – the lake has now taken shape again. And he will continue to fill himself. The natural jewel is ten meters deep.
