30 minutes Waiting time – Closed barriers: “A district in a hostage”

Date:

De Hietzinger is currently up to half an hour for closed barriers. The drivers are upset. Many therefore go into acute danger. Arainer increases the alarm and are already counting on the worst. And: will the barriers even stay up to 40 minutes per hour in the future?

The nerves are bald in the 13th district: if you currently want to cross the level crossing on the S-Bahn station, you need patience or a good reason to return immediately.

More trains than before
Due to the construction work on the main route, countless trains are currently being led via the side distance via Speising. But instead of an ordered timetable, residents and road users experience a traffic technology. Close the barriers – and nothing happens. “In 25 minutes a single rail jet was only completed,” reports an angry resort. “Why do you block half of the district infrastructure during this time?”

Citizens who are concerned about safety
The affected streets are among the most important axes in the western Vienna. Citizens are now worried about their care in an emergency. “What if salvation or police are stuck here?” It is also not a continuous tensile frequency that the locks would justify. A resident: “This indicates serious defects in traffic management. It is not possible that a whole district is held hostage because no one is ready to find pragmatic solutions.”

Annoying residents
But not only the traffic flow stands still – the security also retires. More and more people are being dragged by the dangerous short circuit reaction, which cross the tracks despite closed barriers. “If this continues, it is only a matter of time before it bursts,” warns a resident who observes the scene every day.

ÖBB refers to expansion plans
At the ÖBB refers to the corresponding notifications. Technically, this means: “Depending on the specific railway crossing, the closure of the barriers is activated by the trains via fixed points along the route or automatically by crossing the signal box before the approval of a train journey.

Even close without a passage
Moreover: “If a train switches to the respective tracks and/or a train, for example, leave the maximum company station, the railway connection must be closed or closed. Long closed barriers are therefore not a complaint, but are necessary by the company to guarantee traffic safety.

Closed locks to 40 minutes per hour?
And it can get worse. Because the ÖBB emphasizes that it urgently needed an expansion of the connecting railway. It is said: “The barrier closures are one of the reasons why a further clock compression of the S80 is not possible before the planned attractiveness of the connecting railway. In the course of this project, all railway crossings that are planned in the 13th district are abandoned, otherwise the barriers would be regularly closed 30 to 40 minutes per hour.” And by the way: bypassing or circumventing closed barriers and ignoring stop signs is prohibited by law and results in high fines and serious accidents.
