Three people were injured in a knife attack in a school in southwestern Finland. A suspicious student had already been arrested, the police said. She follows reports that the alleged perpetrator has specifically attacked girls.
According to the police, the three wounded do not drive in mortal danger. The Vahajarvi school in Prikkala visit around 1250 students between the ages of six and 15. The age of the wounded and the suspect was initially unknown. The police were warned on Tuesday at 10.42 am (local time).
The Finnish broadcaster Yle reported that the student published a manifesto before his knife attack “in which he describes the reasons for his deed and the instruments used for it”. In it he explained to want to put girls on the attack. The student is said to have planned crime six months in advance.
Yle stated that they have the manifesto, but cannot verify whether the document actually came from the alleged perpetrator.
