Waldviertel fights for staff, Tulln for Space
From 2023 to 2024, the number of nurses in the houses was raised by 120 heads, however, the LGA emphasizes. Nevertheless, there are crisis areas – the exactly 184 non -occupied nursing beds share as follows: 69 in the Waldviertel, 53 in the health region of Lower Austria, 36 in the Weinviertel, 18 in the thermal region and eight in the Mostviertel. While the “hotspot” Waldviertel fights against the lack of staff, various home places had to be blocked in Tulln, for example due to flooding damage.
With the “International Nursing Center”, an innovative project was founded in collaboration with Vietnam. The LGA continues ‘young people not only linguistically, but also culturally and professionally oriented’ for a career in the nursing sector. As reported, the first 75 troops have already started their internships in the nursing centers, 150 must follow in the next two years.
10,000 nurses in Lager Austria needed
“Demographic development cannot be stopped. 10,000 nurses will be needed in the lower Austria in the coming years. This cannot be achieved with certainty,” explains trade union member Waldhör. And: “The initiative to bring foreign nurses to the country will not solve the problem.” This measure can only be one of the many puzzle stones.
