A natural spectacle recently caused surprise in Indianapolis in the US state of Indiana. For a short time, orange -colored, bag -shaped clouds -so -called mammatus -clouds, a still small weatherfenomenon -the sky above the city (see video above).
The dramatic natural spectacle followed a powerful storm system that had moved across the middle of the United States on 16 May. The unusual and very unreal -looking cloud formation was surprised by the inhabitants of Indianapoli.
Film recordings (see video above) show the unusual clouds that are reminiscent of downy cotton balls or breasts. From the latter, the name of the Mammatus cloud (the Latin word mammatus means something like breast -like, note). Mammatus clouds look threatening, but are a natural phenomenon.
Arise from evaporation processes
These clouds with short clouds are often observed after turbulent weather conditions under thunderstorms and usually disappears after just ten to 15 minutes. There are various theories on the bottom of the clouds of clouds. The best known says that mammatus clouds are caused by evaporation processes at the bottom of clouds.
A recording that the author of these rules accepted on 6 August 2017 near the Italian community of Misano Adriatico also shows what an unusual appearance can get an approach to an approaching thunderstorm. On the 72nd anniversary of the atomic bombing on the Japanese city of Hiroshima, she had the shape of a mushroom toadpool (see photo above) …
