The civil servant showed the heart – two pairs dared despite his birthday on Sunday

Date:

“The Schnapps date this year failed at registration offices,” we reported on Saturday in the “Upper Austria Kroon”. That was also true – apart from Liebenau in the Mühlviertel. There is a good clerk who married two wedding couples on Sunday – although she celebrated her 43rd birthday herself that day. This is definitely something special, and registrars usually do not serve on Sundays and public holidays.

Liebenau’s registrar Rita Ruttenstock says: “It was like this: first I asked a few who wanted to get married at 10 a.m. because his child baptized at 11 am … then I said yes. And then a second pair contacted me.

“This year we have planned twelve marriages”
Ruttenstock passed the exam as a civil servant in 2003, her first marriage certified in 2007 and has been responsible for marriage affairs since 2017 colleague at retirement in the higher Austrian community, who had almost 1,600 inhabitants: “We are planned for a total of twelve marriages this year. That was only six a year.

According to statistics, there were 45,810 marriages nationwide last year, with 45 less than in the previous year. Young Marry is apparently “from”: the middle age of men in 2024 was 33.6 years, that of women in 31.6 years. By the way: in the meantime the most married in May, but in August.

The name is almost a program: in the mini community of Liebenau the clocks clearly tap a little differently. A registrar who trusts two pairs despite Sunday and her own birthday – who really doesn’t exist anywhere else.

And it shows that rural life simply has its positive sides. You know and respect each other, help together in an emergency and ideally even like yourself.

The close social control in the country can be annoying. But at the same time, the village often looks like a powerful network of connection.
