Witwer desperate – Run about the woman on the beach: “I lost everything”

Date:

Giovanni Sfregola lost his wife Elisa ( 66) at the weekend, flooded with a building vehicle on the beach of Cervia near Rimini. Now the ex-Carabini describes emotionally how he found his wife at the location of the mobile phone and why colleagues should stop him.

Giovanni Sfregola, former commander of the Carabinieri, lost his beloved Mrs. Elisa (66) on the beach of Cervia near Rimini. As the “Kroon” reported, it was overwhelmed by a heavy -ton planner – checked by a man without a driver’s license, with drugs past. Now the husband of the dead man breaks his silence.

“I know exactly that the last photo of a person is left,” says Giovanni with a Brosse voice. “That is why I am grateful to my colleagues that they saved me the sight. I would not have seen my wife – exactly what was left of her.”

“She just didn’t come back”
Last Saturday, as is often the case, it was couple with friends in Cervia, not far from Rimini. “I was in the hotel Zadina, about 700 meters from the number 70 beach. We had breakfast together, then went back to the room. She changed and lost – as so often is the case,” says Giovanni. “Elisa went for a walk as usual. She was sporty, went to the gym and swam regularly.”

But she didn’t return. Giovanni called her several times, without an answer. Then he remembered: she had her iPad with her. With the “finding my iPhone” function, he was able to find the tablet. “The app finally navigated to its location on the beach.” But the place was already closed.

Sfregola was commander of the Carabinieri in Vicenza until 2016 and had worked on murder cases for almost four decades. “But I would be difficult to see my own wife dead. I know exactly that the last photo remains.”

An eyewitness – the lifeguard – suffered suffering from seeing the accident and had to be taken to the hospital.

The driver was unqualified
The tragic accident raises questions: The driver of the caterpillar had no driver’s license and was known to the police for drug abuse. Nevertheless, he rode the heavy construction worker on the public beach on the clear Saturday morning – apparently without sufficient supervision.

“I have read that this treatment of heavy machines on the beach has long been common. It is hard to believe for us,” says Giovanni. Family members of a man who had already hit the same driver in 2022 were shocked. “It seems that everyone can just make what they want today.”

Contradictory statements about approval
Investigation of negligent deaths were taken. According to the mayor there was no approval for using the vehicle on the beach. However, according to an entrepreneur on site, the work was approved. The widower now wonders whether others should be held responsible.

Giovanni and his wife had recently received a grandson – a glimmer of hope that is now covered by the pain. “He is not even three months old. Now we only have a sea of grief.”
