More than 1300 victims – where violence appears the most in Carinthia

Physical, verbal, social, mental, emotional, sexual or on the internet. Violence has many forms and unfortunately it is still a taboo subject. The Carintic victims of violence of violence speak in the previous year, although the number of non -reported cases is much higher.

“Unfortunately, many often do not know who they should turn to. But often it is also the embarrassment, the fear that leads to it being silent against help,” says Margot Moser-Lechter, director of the Violence Protection Center in Klagenfurt. “We are the contact point responsible for all forms of violence.”

The facility wants to attract attention again and all the institutions that help. “We want to become more visible, go to schools, shopping centers, performing on social networks, working with hospitals and courts.” Very strong but also with the police. “The collaboration is the most important pillar in violence,” says Interior Minister Gerhard Karner, who visited the Carinthian Violence Protection Center this week.

Violent protection centers are installed even more intensively in the further training under the police. “These are positive progress,” notes Moser-Lechter.

At the federal level, further development and improvement are already being worked on. “We see the digital area as a very big challenge, because there are often threats,” Karner explains.

Women particularly important with the police
The Minister of the Interior sees that the share of women with the police is increasing. “We have become more feminine – an important factor so that female victims of violence also trust the police faster.”

• Physical violence:
  Push, step, beat, throw boxes, throw with objects, pull on the hair, spit, hit your fists, hit your head against the wall, burned (with cigarettes), shaking (from small children), attacks with weapons, etc. to attempted murder or murder.
  The more subtle forms of physical violence are, for example, to eat the ban or to prevent it, for example, going to bed. Physical abuse is associated with feelings of fainting, humiliation, great fear of the unpredictability of the violent perpetrator and often afraid of death.

• Psychological and emotional violence:

Verbal and physical violence are often closely related, the violence is used by language to prepare and justify physical violence! Used as a sign of rule, the language itself becomes a means of violence and has an identity -destructive effect.

• Sexualized violence:

• Social Violence:
  Social isolation, control over all contacts, determining the outdoor times, contact bans (with friends and family members of the customer), locking up, forbid a driver’s license …

• Economic violence:
  It serves to notice women, topics and humiliating and the constant recovery of the endangered control of them. Work ban, compulsory work, control over income, refusing money and takes away, refusing the account access. Klienten tell how to beg for money for food or clothing for the children. Access to money is often used to make women sexually compliant.

• Stalking/ persistent persecution:
  The unwanted contact to threaten, tagging, intimidating and terrorizing.   It is characteristic that stalking actions have a certain frequency and continuity. The purpose of the perpetrator is to restore a relationship. The effects for the victims can lead to insomnia to anxiety and panic attacks on somatoform disorders.

  Violence that takes place in the digital space and is performed by technical aids.
