Steve Bannon, former top strategist for former US President Donald Trump, warns that the war in Ukraine could escalate into a “global conflict”. “War is unpredictable and we are playing with fire. We are escalating a regional conflict into a global conflict,” Steve Bannon told Italian TV channel Rete 4 on Sunday evening.
“We must be very careful that world leaders do not push Ukrainians to their end. I don’t think NATO should be involved at all, let alone the US. Even in World War II, it was Hitler who declared war on the United States, not the other way around,” Bannon warned.
Bannon: Ukraine should join the EU
“NATO is a joke, this is a war between oligarchs and I have said that from the start. Women, children, soldiers, all these people will die and the Ukrainian cities will become Dresden and for what? There will be talk of returning the eastern provinces to Russia. Ukraine is not allowed to join NATO, it is said that it should become part of the European Union, but not as a permanent member. Ukraine will become a buffer zone with Turkey and India as guarantors. Do we really need six months of devastation and death to come to that conclusion?” asked Bannon, 68.
