Parents can contribute much more to the safety of their children while swimming than they believe. This is demonstrated by a new study of the Board of Trustees for Road Safety. This applies in particular to Vienna, where there are some underrated risks for swimmers – and the risk of drinking is constantly increasing.
In the summer, the town hall offers free swimming tracks for children (see below), because the number of children and adolescents who find an early tragic death has increased by drowning (see graphic). The failure of school swimming is often held responsible for this in the COVID period, but a study of the Board of Trustees for Road Safety (KFV) shows that there are other and unexpected reasons for this.
