The Electric Love Festival 2022 has been defeated. Organizer Manuel Reifenauer, who received the “crown” during the clean-up work at the Salzburgring, drew a conclusion a few days afterwards.
“crown” Mr Reifenauer, are you glad the festival is over?
Manuel Reifenauer And! laughs) That only refers to organizational matters. Firstly, the festival took place in this dimension for the first time since 2019. In addition, the Corona topic has come up again. And this year it was harder than ever to find suitable staff, especially in the security field. That’s why I was so nervous beforehand. It was a tour de force, but I am very happy that everything went well. It’s emotionally sad, of course. We love to do that and enjoy watching people celebrate and get goosebumps ourselves. This is our driving force.
How have high energy prices affected implementation?
You have to remember: every part installed on the site should be brought here. This means that everything depends on logistics and comes with high fuel prices. Therefore, in some areas, prices were 40 percent higher than in 2019. That is of course a challenge on the economic side.
In 2021 you have accepted a minus with the smaller version. How does it look financially this year?
I assume that due to the higher prices we will end up in the black. Especially since we haven’t changed the ticket prices since 2019. We made that commitment. On the revenue side, we were pretty much the same as 2019, but the costs were much higher. We are happy with a black zero among the aspects mentioned.
The Electric Love Festival will celebrate its tenth anniversary in 2023. What do you see as the key that the event lasted so long?
The region is primarily responsible for this. The aesthetics, the beauty of nature. But also the people here who support the festival, the opponents who accept it – that’s a special story. For example, sports club Plainfeld, which is very involved. They do their job (parking briefing) in all weather conditions and do so almost voluntarily for the club greenhouse. These are things that make the festival last so long. And also our team: we are about 28 people who are very different, but completely united in the matter.
What is planned for the big anniversary in 2023?
In terms of capacity, we have reached the limit. But it will be a special edition. Ten years anniversary is something big for us.
What is your wish for next year?
No rain from Wednesday to Sunday, but beautiful weather (laughs)
