Have Egyptian security forces arrested more than a hundred activists who was planning to participate in the Gaza World Marchan international mobilization of different organizations that tries to break the Israeli blockade in humanitarian aid for the Palestinian enclave.
Most prisoners are French, a total of 52, while there are around 40 Algerians. There are also Moroccans and Libyans among the prisoners. They have been arrested in their hotels and others at Cairo airport, and some have already been deported to their country of origin.
The Coordinators of the Mars have demanded the release of the prisoner persons and that Egypt allows the entrance to every person who wants to participate in the Mars who goes “in accordance with the interests manifested by Egypt to end the blockade and to restore the stability to their limits.”
The Mars is intended to reach Rafah (on the Egyptian border with Gaza) in the coming days, but the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has the “need to obtain an earlier approval” for the World Mars to Gaza and that will only allow the official channels.
Between Wednesday and Thursday it is expected that 4000 people from 80 countries will arrive in Cairo to participate in mobilization.
Among them is one Delegation of Podemos EuskadiWith Maite Gartzia in the lead, who are already in Egypt.
In addition to the global march to Gaza, there is another campaign by Algeria parallel that started his way last Sunday to reach Egypt.
The Mars starts on Friday
The activists are planning to leave on the 13th in a convoy of Cairo to the city Al Arish, the capital of Noord -Sinai, and then walk to Rafah for three days, where another 72 hours will camp on the border, from where they will return to the Egyptian capital.
The north of Sinai is forbidden territory for foreigners, who only have access by the authorities.
This global march, just like the Fleetilla or Freedom that was intercepted by the Israeli authorities last Monday, criticizes the blockade imposed by Israel for the access of basic goods (such as food, food or fuel) to the Palestinian enclave.
