Fatal accident Wednesday night in the Tyrolean lowlands: A 23-year-old resident in Westendorf (Kitzbühel district) went off the road with his motorcycle, collided with a pole and fell. The young man was seriously injured and was eventually discovered by a shift worker. It is not yet clear how long the 23-year-old has been there.
At about 4 a.m., the attentive shift worker drove past the accident site in his car. After discovering the recumbent motorcycle and then the seriously injured driver, the passerby immediately raised the alarm. But what happened?
Earlier police investigations showed that the 23-year-old motorcyclist was driving on the municipal road at some point during the night and for reasons unknown, swerved off the roadway near the swimming pool. “The young man then crashed into a concrete pole, fell and was seriously injured,” the director said.
Time of accident unclear
It is not yet clear when the accident happened. The seriously injured could have been lying there for hours. The rescuers, alarmed by passers-by, took the 23-year-old to the Innsbruck clinic after first aid.
