“Missing decision with consequences”
The accused locals traveled that evening with his 400 hp car and a dry road when he wanted to overtake a normal bus in a long turn. He was on his way home, says the 22-year-old locals-stuttering, noticeably nervous. “I would have tried the bus. I had too little distance, so I noticed the car too late,” he sees his mistake. Defender Christoph Rother also describes it as a “wrong decision with a lot of reinforcing consequences”.
There were four women in the opposing car – all locals, related or friends. Due to the frontal impact, all those involved were seriously injured. A 61-year-old succumb later to her injuries in the hospital. And another woman cannot work to this day: “I have an operation again in four weeks,” she says.
“I still thought he can’t catch up here,” says the bus driver as a witness. And the judge asks: “What does it mean to catch up with the bus shortly before the area?” “Little,” the accused hesitantly replies, says conclusion, “I’m really sorry.” The last judgment: five months in prison for probation. “With the consequences that you and especially the family members must live,” the judge concludes.
