“Layla” Too Sexist – Ban Ballermann Hit At German Folk Festival

Date:

The controversial party song “Layla” should not be played at the upcoming trade fair in Düsseldorf with up to four million visitors. The organizers of the St. Sebastianus shooting club took a corresponding decision. “I think this song belongs everywhere – just not at our fair,” said Schützen boss Lothar Inden. The city of Düsseldorf had previously discussed “Layla” with the organizers.

After the gunmen promised that the song would be banned in marquees and rides, the city saw no reason for a ban, according to a spokeswoman. However, the board also saw “no legal basis” for this.

Another folk festival banned the song earlier
Schützen boss Inden said he did not know the song before and then started working on the content. The text in no way corresponds to the customs of his traditional club. The Ballermann hit by DJ Robin & Schürze, which is currently number 1 in the German charts, includes: “I have a brothel and my brothel mother is called Layla. She is more beautiful, younger, hornier (…) “The beautiful Layla, the horny Layla. The bitch Layla, our Layla.” At the beginning of the week it was announced that at the insistence of the city “Layla” could not be played at the Kiliani folk festival in Würzburg.

Federal Justice Minister finds ban ‘one too many’
Federal Justice Minister Marco Buschmann is critical of this ban. “You don’t have to like pop lyrics. You may even find them crazy or tasteless. But to officially ban them, I think, is one too many,” said the FDP politician on Twitter. Even DJ Robin doesn’t understand the whirlwind: “People used to sing ‘Scandal in the limited area’ or ‘We’re going to the whorehouse to Barcelona'”, he referred to the “Bild” on other songs that are therefore questionable.
