Judgment in Germany – Right -wing Extremist magazine “Compact” remains permitted

Although there are numerous polemic and exciting statements and many content of the magazine, the judges argued and concluded: this content would “not” exceed the threshold so that they dominate the general picture of the magazine.

At the same time, the 6th Senate made it clear that the “compact” makers identified with the “remigration concept” of the Austrian right -wing extremist Martin Sellner. The court assessed perspective and trivializing statements by “compact” editor-in-chief Jürgen Elsässer during the hearing as a “merely process-tactical, non-credible argument”. The latter claimed that there were incidental authors of rights that would appear in the magazine, and therefore “compact” “was not on the right and certainly not the extremist right -wing extremist”.

According to the judgment, however, the “enemies of freedom” is guaranteed persons of press and expression according to the basic law. The judges trust trust in the power of free and social disputes.

The federal judges therefore confirmed their decision of the urgent procedure last August. At that time they had temporarily suspended the ban, so that the tide could continue to appear for the time being. Now the responsible person has made his final decision in the main procedure. In the first and last case, the Leipzig judges stand for lawsuits against club bans.

Observation by protecting the Constitution
The German Ministry of the Interior had prohibited the magazine 2024 and called the “central mouthpiece of the right -wing extremist scene”. According to the ministry, the ‘compact’ time GmbH has long been the focus of constitutional protection and was classified and observed as secured as secured.

The media company, founded in 2010, used to be located in the Brandenburg Falkensee and is now in Stessen in Saxony-Anhalt.
