The car market in the European Union bought the second month in a row in May. The new registrations rose by 1.6 percent in the year to 926,582 cars.
The growth of electric cars and hybrid vehicles were worn, while pure gasoline engines and diesel cars were sold worse. Vehicles from the American electric car car Tesla were again much less in demand.
New registrations rose by 25 percent
Otherwise there can be no falling demand in the electric segment: in May in the EU with slightly less than 142,800 pure battery-electric cars, an increase of 25 percent. In the first five months, growth was slightly higher with a good 26 percent.
The large German car manufacturers registered growth: the Volkswagen Group had an increase from 4.8 percent to just under 263,800 new registrations in May, BMW rose by 8.1 percent to a good 63,200 cars. At Mercedes-Benz, growth was 3.9 percent on a good 47,900 cars.
Tesla has feathers again
In May, 8729 Tesla cars were re-registered in the EU, more than 40 percent less than a year earlier. In the first five months together, the decrease in the company of the controversial American billionaire Elon Musk is a good 45 percent.
The cause is also a response from customers to the political dedication of Musk alongside US President Donald Trump. The car manufacturer himself points out that he has renewed his important model Y at the start of the year, which in the meantime reduces sales.
The Tesla Robotaxi Pilot Project started at the weekend in Texas. The company is testing on a small scale with directorless taxis (see video above).
