According to the French Gendarmerie, the volatile vehicle remained close to the road – north of Metz and not far from the German border.

One of the occupants fled on foot, a Belgian police officer started prosecution. Both were captured and fatally injured by an approaching car.
A spokesperson for the French Gendarmerie could not initially say why the Belgian police were behind the suspects.
According to French media reports, the Belgian police suspected that drugs were being transported in the car.
