A Japanese climber died on the rise of the highest mountain in Peru. Her companion, also a Japanese woman, was saved on Thursday by the 6768 meter high Huascarán, as the local chef said.
The two women aged 40 and 36 have been stuck on the Huascarán since Monday because of fog and bad weather after taking their walk without a mountain guide.
Thanks to a GPS signal, the women could be found by the rescue employees, as the authorities continued to say. All help, however, came too late for one of the two climbers – when the rescuers arrived, she had already died of hypothermia.
