For a long time they were only considered a dietary supplement for athletes and bodybuilders – but proteins are much more than pure muscle makers. They get enormous importance, especially with age, as a Viennese sports doctor emphasizes. If you eat too little of it, you risk more than just loss of strength in the long term.

Proteins are more than just nutrients – they are the fabric made from which the body is made. From the hormone balance to the immune system to wound healing and muscle maintenance: almost nothing runs without proteins in the organism. Nevertheless, they were underestimated for a long time in the general public- The image was too liable for them as a fitness and bodybuilding additive. In reality, however, they play a fundamental role for all people – from toddler to old age, such as sports doctor Dr. Robert Fritz from Vienna explained.
