Immediate help for victims – first storm balance: damage 22 million euros

After the massive destruction in Gschnitz and in the Stubai Vital, the state offers Tyrol 22 million euros in special funds and promises rapid help to the victims of the natural disaster. New debts must be accepted for this.

A week after the devastating storm in Gschnitz, the state government launched a financial package for the affected communities on Tuesday.

22 million euros for removing the damage is provided. However, the end of the flagpole should not be achieved, because the clean -up work is still in full swing.

The storm situation received a dramatic development at the start of this summer. In addition to hail and heavy rain events, countless slope briefs and Murs were recorded.

The situation in Gschnitz is very precarious. Sometimes meters -high murs have caused enormous damage to property damage on 30 June. Cars were washed away, basement flooded, bridges bent away, streets and streams were damaged. According to the current state of knowledge, a total of 15 buildings were hit.

“The state of Tyrol will provide the necessary funds on the basis of the law of the Disaster Fund and initiate the necessary procedures for private elementary damage and for the damage in the assets of the municipalities, they efficiently and in a targeted manner and ensure a rapid processing of damage,” emphasized LH Anton Mattle and LHSTV. Affected people must get financial help quickly
A provisional payment of 25 percent of the damage sum registered and recognized by the assessment of the estimated and companies in the municipal environment and commercial companies was also decided to offer the damaged rapid help. There are 6 million euros available for this.

Now protective buildings must be repaired
Due to the massive damage to traffic routes and flows, the budgets of the road construction department and the torrent and avalanche building must also be increased, by 11 and 4.5 million euros. In the first place, it is about the recovery of access routes and the free excavator of the sliding basins to be ready for other events.

These editions are only partially covered in the budget. The country must therefore register 18.35 million euros in new loans.
