Riddle over cause – Scheifling: Drinking water with faecal germ infected

Date:

A warning has been given to the population in Scheifling in the Murtal for polluted drinking water. The limit values for faecal germs have been exceeded, according to a letter from the municipality, the residents involved must boil the water.

The finding of the drinking water investigation was late on Thursday evening in the community of the Oberian 2100 residents. Result: the values for E.Coli/Coliform bacteria are outside the normal range.

Community informed full
The water pipes in the Scheifling and St. Lorenzen districts are specifically affected, in which about two -thirds of the community citizens live. The residents were informed about the situation via the municipal homepage, social media and per flight list to all households and encouraged to cook the drinking water for at least three minutes.

Waiting for results
Mayor Gottfried Reif told the “Krone” on Saturday that they were doing everything that was possible for the first time “. A special company was already consulted on Friday that 19 water samples took. These are analyzed at the weekend in Salzburg and the results should be available on Monday. This hopes for the cause of the pollution, which is currently still completely unique.

As a further size, two collection containers with 0.2 milligrams of chlorine were moved per liter – in such cases a usual measure. This can easily change the smell of the water, which is completely harmless, Reif emphasizes.
