The caught Mafia boss Davide Emanuello can make his sentence friend, with whom he has been in contact for 17 years. The Supreme Court in Italy decided that after the prison director had banned a personal meeting.
Emanuello then appealed – successfully. The strict tremenda for Mafiosi, the so-called 41-BIS regulation, is intended to prevent Mafia leaders from continuing to control their criminal networks from prison. It contains strict insulation measures and seriously limited visiting rights. The current judgment can now influence the treatment of personal relationships between prisoners under this special regime.
The Cosa Nostra-Boss Emanuello has been writing his 55-year-old penetrating friend since 2008. Now he wants to get to know the Italo-British woman personally. The judges pointed out that the need for relationships with the requirements of public safety must be weighed. In this case, however, the criminal friend is not associated with organized crime. The Italo-British, on the other hand, has been involved in projects for the reocialization of prisoners for years.
Mafioso speaks to everyone
“Nobody means talking to someone. Nobody means talking to someone that nobody hears my words. Twenty years to talk to someone for twenty years, leads to a state of serious isolation,” the boss recently wrote.
Davide Emanuello is a leader with a high up of the Sicilian Mafia organization Cosa Nostra and comes from the Sicilian city of Gela. He has been convicted several times for the most serious crimes, including three times for life imprisonment for murder.
