A mother was afraid for her health and that of her son after rats crashed into the walls of her home, reports Gloucestershire. The pest attack occurred in late 2021, after the construction of a new kitchen. However, improperly modified drainage tubes later allowed the mice to enter the drug.
It wasn’t even the tenant, who wished to remain anonymous, that CCTV cameras were installed in his attic to confirm the suspicion. For 10 minutes, they saw five mice circling around, which looked like “monsters coming down from the walls.”
The tenant, from Newent, Gloucestershire, is proud to have a clean and tidy home, but has questioned his sanity for several weeks after finding debris and ‘sticky’ on the kitchen floor. He woke up several times and saw that the refrigerator door was open and upon closer inspection found that the door had been broken.
Surprised by the discovery, he asked his landlord, the Wade Housing Society, for help with the rat infestation, but claimed that he had been told it was his problem and that he would have to deal with it. The Wyden Housing Association acknowledges a rat attack on the property, but “does not agree with the tenant’s interpretation of events.”
The business owner said: “I have been living in my house since 2019. I spent a lot of money making the house beautiful and a home for me and my son. I made the house beautiful and the inside beautiful. The problems started. When I had a new kitchen that was fixed last year.
“I was really happy with the kitchen, but I didn’t know there was a big hole in the back of the kitchen cupboard where the drain was going. All the noise started in December and you could hear mice on the walls and in the attic.
“It was bad, so I finally put CCTV cameras in the attic and watched on my phone what was going on there. Once that night, I saw five mice running in the attic. I went to the Wyden Housing Society and they told me I was going to solve this myself. So I raised the money and rented.” Pesticide”.
However, the Widen Housing Association denies the claim, saying it paid for the sewer service. The tenant became more and more excited when the mice crushed the wire. This worried the tenant and he felt the house needed to do some electrical tests because he didn’t feel safe.
He said: The electrician came in and did nothing. He just stood there and laughed at me like I was silly. So I went to the Citizens Advice Bureau and asked for help because the whole situation was bothering me.”
The Widen Housing Association denies this, saying “there were no jokes or degrading comments by the electrician.” The pest control man returned regularly to the house and on his first visit told the business owner where mice could enter the house. He pointed to a drain pipe coming out of the house with a large hole around it.
He said, “When the pest control officer approached the house, he looked around and found out where the mice came from. They came in from the outside, where there is a kitchen drain, and around it was a big hole. The pipe it was in was the wrong size or the hole around it was not filled properly.”
“I’m really clean and I woke up to find debris and mucus on the floor. These mice are smart, aren’t they? And I woke up to open the fridge door a few times and then realized they were rats.”
“I went to the Citizens’ Advisory Office, which wrote to Environmental Health Woeden, listing what should have happened during the electrical test, and asking them to pay for pest control. The Housing Association has since said it will pay the pest control fee. Please sit.
“Nothing will ever hear me again because my house is being electrocuted and the smell of ammonia. Rats die in the walls of the house and I was told that when they die they explode and then explode and then hit. Toxic gases.”
A spokesperson for the Wyden Housing Association said the pest control man’s report made no mention of “the smell of ammonia or rats rotting in the walls, had it been wieden, the matter would have been urgently looked into.”
The tenant added, “I asked the housing association to help me solve this problem, but they didn’t help me. My clothes were in the attic, so I took them down and found them wet and scratched. I thought they were wet coming out. The walls, but that’s where mice die.”
“My son knows mice here and refuses to stay in the house. He’s afraid to find out he’s going out of the toilet and into his room. The whole situation affects both of us. I’m really clean. Angry. “
What the Widen Housing Association said:
A spokesperson for the Wyden Housing Association said: “We can assure you that Wyden takes these issues very seriously. Wyden disagrees with the tenant’s interpretation of events, but Wyden admits he has had a problem with mice infesting his property.
“This was first reported to the office on February 21, 2022. Wyden asked the electrical contractor to visit and have the electricians checked – the report states that all lights were working properly and rooftop paper windows were checked. Looking for potential problems, nothing was found.
“The tenant informed the contractor that all the rats were gone, so he checked the loft site and found no lighting problems. The employer had two guests in the house prior to the inspection, and they were very nice to him and introduced themselves. Refreshing.
“There were no jokes or insulting comments by the electrician. Wyden received a final report from a pest control company contacted by the tenant stating that all rodents on the property had been eliminated and no further action was required.
A drain valve was installed during the stay to prevent further infestation. Please note that Wyedean pays the pest control company for their services.
For support, contact the employee to see if they have any other property left in the estate. Our housing service officer informed us that there is no work in progress and that we will be contacted when the work is completed. .
I spoke with the tenant and offered him the property, but he refused. He said he was on Homeseeker+, and he also asked me if anything appropriate had been put up in Wyedean, that could be considered because he was happy with and wanted Wyedean. “Stay with us. I assured we will contact him when something suitable appears. So far, there has been no property related.”
