In Vienna, face masks are still mandatory on public transport. However, a 26-year-old on Friday afternoon in Vienna-Wieden did not want to accept that. After an argument with passengers on a bus, the young woman even had to be arrested.
The 26-year-old did not wear the mandatory FFP2 mask on a Wiener Linien bus. When other passengers asked her about it, a dispute arose that eventually escalated outside the bus, state police reported. Because when the 26-year-old got off at Rilkeplatz, some of her opponents even followed her.
Threatened to set fire to another woman
“An angry, heated discussion ensued,” police spokeswoman Barbara Gass said on Saturday. The 26-year-old is said to have suddenly held a deodorant can and a lighter in front of a 39-year-old woman’s face and threatened to set it on fire. According to witnesses, she would have caused a fire flash and thereby caused a dangerous situation, which the 26-year-old denies. In any case, no one was injured.
In the end, the police had to settle the dispute and take the woman into temporary custody. During her interrogation, she denied making a dangerous threat with deodorant spray and a lighter. Ultimately, the 26-year-old was released by order of the Vienna Public Prosecution Service.
