‘Aliens exist’ has been sprayed on the facade of the world famous Pantheon in Rome, about 1900 years old. The graffiti in blue was discovered a few days ago and there is no trace of the perpetrators, the Corriere della Sera reported. Experts are busy analyzing the color properties to properly remove the graffiti.
Unfortunately, the outside area of the Pantheon is not completely under video surveillance, the newspaper quoted Pantheon director Gabriella Musto as saying. An increasing number of homeless people sleeping in the Pantheon and illegal tours of the building are also a growing problem.
“Einstein was right, human stupidity is infinite,” Margherita Corrado, senator of the Culture Commission of Rome, wrote on Facebook. She also posted photos of the graffiti.

The Pantheon, one of the best-preserved buildings of Roman antiquity, is located in the center of Rome, not far from Piazza Navona. It was completed under Emperor Hadrian between 125 and 128 AD. For about 1700 years it had the largest dome in the world in terms of inner diameter. In the 6th century it was rededicated as a church. As a Roman Catholic Church, its official Italian name today is Santa Maria ad Martyres. Numerous celebrities, including the painter Raffael (1483-1520), are buried in the Pantheon.
