The unions have denounced that negotiations on a new agreement “have been going on for four years without any progress”, a situation they have attributed to the “immobility” of the Alava employers SEA.
The trade unions ELA, CC. OO., LAB, USO, CGT and ESK have called for a three-day strike for May 18, 24 and 26 in Álava’s metal companies to demand a “decent” deal in the sector.
These organizations have denounced by means of a statement that the negotiations for a new agreement have “passed four years without any progress”, a situation they have attributed to the “immobility” of the SEA employers in Alava.
They also explained that in metals companies, “problems and uncertainty continue to pile up”. They cited salaries that do not allow “to cope with the increase in life”, a “very long” working day, “high” flexibility, “fraud” in hiring or “numerous work accidents”.
Faced with this situation, they have called a three-day strike so that the SEA “moves” to come to a “decent” agreement.
The unions have demanded wage increases above the CPI, with a minimum wage of 1,400 euros in the 14 benefits; a significant reduction in the working day, subrogation for subcontractors, measures against hiring fraud, and the limitation of temporality and flexibility.
In turn, they demand measures to achieve real and effective equality and ensure health at work, improvements in permits and guarantees for the implementation of the agreement.
