A 47-year-old man was robbed and beaten up by a group of young people in Vienna-Simmering on Sunday evening. The youths attacked the man after he refused to buy them cigarettes with his debit card. The man suffered serious injuries and is now being treated in hospital.
The four young people approached the man because they needed his debit card for the age indication at the cigarette machine. However, he refused to give them his card and walked away.
They then chased the 47-year-old, attacking and violently beating the man who had meanwhile been brought to the ground. They then took his money and fled, police spokesman Christoph Vernhjak said.
Victim has been hospitalized
The 47-year-old mainly suffered head injuries. After receiving first aid from the on-site professional rescue team, he was taken to hospital. Two suspects aged 15 and 16 were arrested in an immediate manhunt. So far they have not disclosed what they have done. Her two alleged accomplices have not yet been identified. The Vienna State Police has taken over the investigation.
