Shocking moment for a paraglider on Tuesday afternoon in the Tyrolean lowlands! Shortly after take-off in Westendorf (Kitzbühel district), the German (44) lost control of the glider – he crashed and got stuck in a tree. The man had to be rescued from dizzying heights.
Shortly after 3 pm, the 44-year-old took off with his paraglider on the Choralpe. After only about 15 seconds of flight time, the parachute suddenly collapsed at a height of about 80 meters, after which the pilot lost control and crashed into a tree, police reported.
Survived the crash unharmed
The German had to be rescued from the tree by the alarmed mountain rescue service in Westendorf. Investigators say the pilot escaped unharmed.
Tandem planes also had an accident
This was not the only operation for the mountain rescuers. Apparently on Tuesday a tandem plane had an accident at the take-off on the Choralpe. Both people are said to have suffered injuries.
