The Organization of Consumers and Users (OCU) estimates Monday that the average household will see an increase in shopping cart spending of “more than €500 a year” due to the rise in food prices.
Out of 156 products analysed, 84% have increased in price from last year, with the olive and sunflower oil, dishwasher, margarine, pasta, bananas and salmonthe products that rise the most, the OCU said in a statement.
On the contrary, the tenderlointhe onions and some products drugstore and hygiene are among the few products that have lowered their prices.
In addition, the OCU has stated that “more than half of the annual price increase has occurred” in the past months“and predicts that “the most likely” is that this price increase will worsen in the coming months.”
