The attack took place in Kharkov, where a grenade launched by Kremlin troops killed three people while they waited for the bus; the boy’s sister is serious
The war in Ukraine has left a series of very dire situations in these five months. The latest took place this week, when a Russian rocket attack on the city of Kharkiv killed three people, including a 13-year-old teenager. The heartbreaking scene of his father, Dimitri kneeling before the corpse, has gone around the world. The boy’s 15-year-old sister was injured in the same attack and is in hospital.
The footage shows the brutality of the moment: the teenager’s blood and glass from the bus stop tent, where he was hit by rockets fired from Uragan rocket launchers, according to the local Ukrinform agency.
In the scene, the serenity of the father attracts attention, who at first, kneeling next to his son’s corpse, caress his face. Later, he opens a prayer book and begins to pray. He also talks on the phone, but he keeps his composure at all times, despite the dire situation of losing a son.
The attack took place in the Saltiv district of Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second largest city. As explained by Oleg Sinegubov, head of the Ukrainian regional military administration in Kharkov, a man and a woman, the latter aged 72, also died.
According to data from the Ukrainian Attorney General’s office released on Telegram and quoted by Ukrinform, at least 360 children have been killed and more than 679 injured in Ukraine since the Russian invasion began on February 24.
