Horror crash in the early hours of Saturday morning on the Westautobahn towards Vienna. A 26-year-old driver was thrown from his car and landed on the road with serious injuries. Shortly before the accident, there was a wrong-way driver report in this area, but the connection is unclear.
A 43-year-old Tunisian citizen from Vienna was driving a panel van on the A1, Westautobahn towards Vienna on Saturday. For reasons still unclear, he collided around 2:10 am with a car driven by a 26-year-old Hungarian from Gallspach who was standing across the road in the Pucking area. The accident caused a 47-year-old Ukrainian citizen to brake sharply with his car.
Left on the road
A 37-year-old Tajik citizen driving behind him was unable to stop his semi-trailer in time and collided with the Ukrainian’s car. During the accident, the Hungarian was thrown from the vehicle and landed on the road with serious injuries. After emergency medical first aid, he was taken to Kepler University Hospital. The Tunisian and the Ukrainian were taken to the UKH in Linz with injuries of an undetermined nature.
Child seat found
The emergency services also immediately searched the entire area with police dogs because a child seat had been thrown from one of the vehicles involved in the accident. Fortunately, there was no indication that a child was actually in the vehicle.
Witnesses are being sought
The A1 towards Vienna had to be completely closed until 5:30 am; the Salzburgerbaan until 4:30 am due to numerous sections on the road. Around 2:10 a.m., the highway police received a report of a wrong-way driver via an emergency call for the Haid junction area. It is not yet clear whether a wrong-way driver was actually involved in this accident.
