Another dog attack in Upper Austria: Two four-legged animals rushed at a 57-year-old rehabilitation patient on Tuesday and at least one of the two animals bit his arm, thigh and buttocks several times. The dog owner is currently abroad.
The attack occurred during a walk by a group from the rehabilitation center, in which the 57-year-old – from St. Pölten but currently recovering in Upper Austria – took part. While the patient was walking past the campsite in Bad Schallerbach, two dogs ran towards him from a caravan through the hedge. At least one of them was an “Amstaff”, an American Staffordshire terrier – the breed responsible for the fatal dog attack in Naarn last October.
Dogs locked in caravans
According to the police, the ‘Amstaff’ bit the 57-year-old in at least the left forearm, thigh and buttocks. The caravan owner, who was in charge of the four-legged friends, then managed to drag the dog away from the injured man and lock both animals in the caravan.
According to information from “Krone”, the two four-legged friends belong to someone who is currently abroad: the son of the caravan owner’s wife.
Complaint for negligence in bodily injury
The victim of the attack received initial medical care directly at the rehabilitation center. Personal injury due to negligence is reported to the Public Prosecution Service. The investigation is ongoing.
