What is known so far: Shortly after 7.30 pm, two cars collided head-on on the B4. With five women – driver and passenger 59 years old, in the back seat two 20-year-olds and one 18-year-old – was on the way to Vienna. In the oncoming lane, a family of four, including two small children, was heading back to Horn after a holiday trip.

For unknown reasons, the BMW skidded and collided sideways with the oncoming Seat car. “The accident site was like a mess, with all five occupants of the BMW trapped. It was a very stressful assignment, especially for our young colleagues,” explains Johann Lambacher, commander of the Niederrußbach FF.

The two 20-year-old women from the BMW died at the scene of the accident, the other three occupants were flown to different hospitals with serious injuries. In the chair, the father (33) and his three-year-old daughter escaped with injuries, the son (4) and the mother suffered serious injuries. The emergency services left with a large contingent, three rescue helicopters were requested.
