The CAF group has been chosen to carry out the rehabilitation of light rail units running on Line 1 of Athens and supplying new trams for the city of Seville. The amount of the sum of both contracts exceeds 100 million euros.

As reported by the Beasain-based company, operator Stasy, responsible for transport management in the city of Athens, has selected the group to carry out the rehabilitation of 14 metro units currently operating on Line 1 of the Greek capital’s metro.

This project represents the first relevant contract for the Basque company in the Hellenic country. Line 1 of the Athens Metro is the city’s oldest metro, known as the Green Line, and connects Piraeus to the nearby city of Kifisiá, north of the capital.

On the other hand, the city council of Seville last Thursday awarded the contract for the delivery of two new units for the city’s tramway, as well as for its maintenance for a period of 4 years. The agreement also provides for the possibility to increase the number of units by an additional three.

Delivery of the new units is scheduled for late 2023 and will be added to the network’s current fleet, which consists of four units previously also supplied by CAF.
