The Altenberg volunteer fire brigade immediately responded on Friday when smoke rose from a wooded area near Ortnerhof an der Rax.

The fire brigades in Kapellen and Neuberg were also alerted because of the ongoing heat wave and drought. A total of 41 firefighters with eight vehicles were quickly on the scene.
