“I didn’t see the fall myself, but drove past it right after,” explains Waldl, who immediately recognized the gravity of the situation. “The man had no pulse, so I immediately started CPR measures.” He remembered what he had learned many years ago on the first aid course during his driver’s license training. “I’ve tried chest compressions.”

The victim’s colleague helped him. “But it felt like it took about three to four minutes for the cyclist to feel a pulse again,” said Waldl, who called 911 only after putting the 33-year-old in a recovery position: “There was no time. earlier.”

When the emergency medical helicopter crew “Martin 3” arrived, the person who fell could already mumble a few words and was flown to the Vöcklabruck clinic. “I didn’t understand it,” Waldl ​​says. A police officer present congratulated the 32-year-old after saving his life. And the victim’s colleague also thanked him. “It feels good,” emphasizes the helper.
