Gottfried O. has long known the deed in May 2021. The jury will judge him next week.
It was an act extremely rare in its coolness and brutality. On May 5, Gottfried O. shot his former lover and her mother with a total of ten shots in their noble villa in Wals-Siezenheim. Earlier he had waited for her in the garden.
Rescue workers were still fighting for the lives of the two women. Unsuccessfully, Helga B. and her mother Ingrid succumbed to their serious injuries at the crime scene. The indictment speaks of a “double execution”. The shooter, who says he wanted to take action himself, was arrested by the Cobra at the Wolfgangsee. O., who worked as a detective at a supermarket, confessed to the murders.
Helga B. is said to have insulted and physically assaulted him before. Then he drew his gun “in a tunnel vision” and shot her.
A psychiatrist diagnosed a severe personality disorder with narcissistic elements and considers O. extremely dangerous when exposed to contempt.
Now O. will stand trial from next Tuesday at the regional court of Salzburg. In view of this, he said to the “Krone”: “I will pay for my deed. And that’s right.”
The jury’s verdict is expected on Thursday. Life imprisonment and additional admission to a facility for mentally abnormal but healthy offenders are in the air.
