On Sunday, the water rescue services of Ebensee and Traunkirchen am Traunsee (Upper Austria) were in action to look for two lost swimmers. They departed from the Bräuwiese to cross the lake, but without swimming aids or markings! When they had not returned after four hours, an acquaintance alerted the emergency services.
A large number of emergency services were alerted to the search. The two were exhausted, but fortunately in good health, picked up by an ÖWR task force boat and brought ashore. In addition to the ÖWR (Austrian Water Rescue) Ebensee and Traunkirchen, the white water task force, the Traunkirchen fire brigade and the police were deployed to provide support.
kein suitable equipment
The ÖWR strongly warns against overdoing it when swimming longer distances and undertaking such trips without suitable protective equipment. There is also the danger that shipping traffic will be overlooked. For example, we advise escort boats, swimming or marking buoys, protective clothing, etc.
