On Sunday night, an unknown man tried to break into a parked car in Kapfenberg, Styria. What he may not have noticed at first: The car owner was sleeping in the back seat! When the German woke up to loud noises and noticed that someone was tampering with the car, he slammed the window several times from the inside and the perpetrator fled.
Sunday night there was a rude awakening for a 30-year-old German in Kapfenberg. The man was en route from Munich to Semmering and stopped in Kapfenberg to sleep for a few hours. He parked his car in the Festplatz parking lot and lay down in the back seat around midnight.
Around 2 am, the German was awakened from his sleep by loud noises. He looked out the window and saw a man dressed in the dark with a hammer. The stranger was knocking on the door handle panel on the passenger door.
The German hit the window several times from the inside – the perpetrator fled. The frightened 30-year-old was also the first to leave the parking lot and did not report the attempted car break-in until Sunday.
The perpetrator is said to be about six feet tall and has a short beard. He was wearing a black hooded raincoat (hood not on the head) and black trousers. Explanation to the police inspectorate Kapfenberg on 059133/6203
