Rain expected – fires under control in Italy and Slovenia

Date:

After a week of fires raging in the karst area between Italy and Slovenia, the situation finally calmed down on Sunday evening. Rain should finally cause “fire out”.

Finally, there is a sigh of relief in our neighboring countries of Italy and Slovenia: the massive wildfires that have engulfed hundreds of hectares of forest in recent days and forced many people from their homes have been brought under control.

Water from Carinthia is no longer necessary
“The fires in Slovenia are under control,” confirms the flight control center in Klagenfurt. The danger is not over yet, but the rain expected Monday afternoon should also put the last embers out.

“Since yesterday around 9 p.m., the operation at Weißer See has officially ended,” reports Mayor Karoline Turnschek. The water is no longer needed. “We are no longer on standby because we now know that in case of an emergency we can restart everything quickly,” said the mayor.
