Strike in homes in Gipuzkoa for June 30 and July 1, 14 and 15, 2022

Date:

The workers are called to strike on June 30 and on July 1, 14 and 15 because of the “unsustainable” situation in the sector after five years of “blockade” in the negotiations and 258 days of strike.

labor unions ALS and LAB have again called for four days of strike to June and July in homes in Gipuzkoa, given the “unsustainable” situation in the sector after two years of “blockade” in negotiations and 258 days of strikes. More than 6,000 workers are called upon to support the strikes on the days June 30 and July 1, 14 and 15

In separate press releases, both unions have expressed the “lack of will” of the patronal to resolve the conflict, and have also criticized the role of the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoawhich finances 90% of the service.

According to THE A, workers at the meeting reaffirmed their intention to step up mobilizations after bosses “frustrated the union-promoted negotiating path” and the Provincial Council did not attend the meeting. The employers, says ELA, requested the withdrawal of two points (passing the sector agreement to the companies and requesting the delays of previous years)

The union center criticizes that after five years of negotiations “neither the employers nor the Provincial Council have made any effort to resolve the conflict”, and therefore warns that “the strike and the mobilizations will intensify”.

ELA recalls that during the pandemic, these workers “have been on the front lines and the situation has not improved now, quite the contrary.” the workers have received no collective emotional compensation. Many of them leave their homes because their working conditions are untenable. All of this has a direct impact on their working conditions and the services they offer,” the union said.

For his part, LABORATORY He describes the situation as “unsustainable”, which was already “serious” before the pandemic, and considers it “urgent to find a dignified solution: because the circumstances demand it and because the workers and residents of the sector deserve it”. he emphasized.

According to LAB, “this is due to the privatization of public services, job insecurity and the lack of social and economic recognition of feminized sectors.” In addition, the union emphasizes in this case that “it is not a simple labor dispute, but a social issue that concerns all Gipuzkoans”.

This union believes that the bosses want to “use the negotiating table to perpetuate the conflict”, something they find “unacceptable”. Likewise, he underlines the “responsibility” of the Gipuzkoa provincial council, which he believes is responsible for “taking steps to unblock the table and put forward proposals to find a solution.”
