A horrific traffic accident killed 33 people in Kenya last weekend. A bus crashed head-on into an SUV on a bridge about 180 kilometers northeast of Nairobi and plunged into a river, police in the town of Chuka, at the foot of Mount Kenya, confirmed Monday.
The accident on Sunday night killed two dozen people, the report said. The wreckage of the bus is still being recovered, police said. In addition, the identification of accident victims continues.
Already several accidents on the bridge
The bridge over the Nithi River in northeastern Kenya is known for serious accidents, killing more than 50 people in 1998. In 2000, more than 40 passengers died on a bus that also fell into the river.
