Storm again – Stubaital: search in the river, no trace of the pastor

Date:

On Monday afternoon, the water rescue service resumed the search for Rev. Augustin (60), who had been missing since the severe storms in the Tyrolean Stubai Valley. But again the emergency services had to withdraw in vain. The popular cleric is gone. In the evening heavy thunderstorms came over Tyrol again.

While the clean-up work was in full swing in several places in the Stubai Valley after the severe storms of Saturday night, the Innsbruck water rescue team set out again on Monday afternoon. On the weekend they had to stop looking for Pastor Augustin because it was too dangerous for the helpers.

When the river had calmed down, the emergency services were able to leave
After the Ruetz River calmed down, the search resumed. A search was carried out where the priest’s completely destroyed car was recovered from the water on Saturday.

The emergency services again found vehicle parts. Reverend Augustin is believed to have been swept away in his car by the flooding. However, there is still no trace of the priest who is so popular in the valley.

In the evening a violent storm front crossed Tyrol again
Towards evening, the situation in the Stubai Valley once again reached a peak. Severe thunderstorm struck again. The control center reported mudslides in the Stubaital, but also in the Ötztal near Sölden and in Vent. Later, the center of gravity of the thunderstorms shifted to the lowlands near Schwaz and the Zillertal.
