Clinging to a branch – police officers rescued a man from falling over an embankment

On Monday morning, police rescued a 21-year-old in a forest near Freinberg in Upper Austria, who was clinging to a branch on a ledge. The German fell on a steep dike and threatened to fall five meters down on a road.

The 21-year-old German walked from Anzberg towards Passau on Monday around 8 a.m. In a forest near Haibach, municipality of Freinberg, he fell on a steep dike and was able to hold on to a ledge. He threatened to fall about five meters on Eisenbirner Straße L515. Local residents noticed the man’s cry for help and alerted the police. The colleagues of the Schardenberg Police Inspectorate and a passer-by climbed over the dike to the ledge.

Police said the 21-year-old from Passau was visibly exhausted. He was eventually rescued under difficult circumstances by the police and other passers-by. He was taken to the Passau clinic with minor injuries.
