We have learned nothing from the Corona period. Austria’s schools are still not in the 21st century and we are content with mediocrity. This is how education critic and author Andreas Salcher sees it – in the “Krone” interview he is hard on politics.
“Corona was like an earthquake and after an earthquake you have the chance to do things better and rebuild. And this possibility was not or not enough used.” What has remained in the schools after the corona period? “The gap between education levels has widened. The gap between parents who can and want to study with their children in the afternoon and parents who cannot.” A worrying development, says Salcher, that should not be accepted just like that.
