In the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, storms again hit parts of Carinthia: in the Mölltal several vehicles and their occupants were swept away by a mudslide.
The Carinthian fire brigade comrades carried out a total of 18 operations on Tuesday night. Unlike the storms of nearly a month ago, the night passed quietly, according to the LAWZ: several fallen trees, some basements were flooded and streams burst their banks. Fortunately, no one was injured and the infrastructure was still badly damaged.
Several smaller mudslides have come down in the Pölla Valley due to the rain, so a roadblock has been set up: “Due to the dangerous situation, a roadblock had to be set up from the Schoberblickhütte!”, says Franz Aschbacher, Mayor of Rennweg.

A dangerous situation has arisen in the Mölltal. Due to the heavy rainfall, the southern slope next to the Mölltaler federal road B106 between Tresdorf and Latzendorf came loose around 10 p.m. and the road murmured. At the time, there were a total of three vehicles on the road that were hit by the debris flow, some of which were swept away and trapped the occupants.
“All occupants of the vehicle were able to free themselves and were completely unharmed,” said the Winklern police. There was material damage to the vehicles and the road control systems. “The B106 will remain closed in this area until Tuesday the cleanup work!”
