Danijela Makivic left Tuesday morning to take her son to kindergarten in Neufeld in Burgenland. But suddenly the pregnant woman went into labor.

Her husband Dalibor was there right away. Together they drove from Neufeld to the hospital of the Brothers of Mercy in Eisenstadt. When the car was parked there, the amniotic sac burst. Then there were loud screams in the vicinity of the hospital.
Security personnel at the entrance responded quickly and informed the maternity ward. Senior physician Dr Katharina Hayden immediately ran into the parking garage with two colleagues and the obstetrician Klaudia Varga-Udvardy – with her the birth kit available for such cases.

When the medical team arrived, the baby’s head was already visible. After a few minutes, at 9:04 AM, Matej finally saw the light of day. Together with his mother, he quickly received first aid and was taken to the maternity ward of the hospital.
Matej is 52 centimeters tall and weighs 4048 grams. Most importantly, he and his mother Danijela are in excellent health. “We are happy with the Makivic family and are relieved after this unusual birth order,” says the team from the Birth Department of Eisenstadt Hospital.
