Spectacular police operation Friday night in Telfs in Tyrol: officials were conducting vehicle checks when a resident had an accident with his car in the immediate vicinity. When the officers wanted to run to the badly damaged car, the driver pressed the accelerator and drove towards them. Both had to save themselves by jumping sideways. The drunk driver of the accident fled – and crashed into a rock face. Seriously injured!
Shortly before 2 a.m., three police officers in Telfs conducted routine vehicle and driver checks. During an official act there was an accident on the roundabout. An initially unknown driver lost control, drove over the green zone of the roundabout and eventually came to a stop against a curb.
Two officers immediately wanted to help the driver. But he just drove on with the wrecked car. “Despite the clear stop signal from the police officers, the driver did not stop, he accelerated his vehicle and drove towards both officers. They had to jump to safety by jumping to the side,” the director reported.
Escape attempt ends in crash
The driver of the accident then fled. But this was short-lived. During an immediate chase or manhunt with several patrols, the police found the fleeing car between Telfs and the Bairbach district. The steering wheel had gone off the road and collided with rocks!
Driver seriously injured in hospital
The driver, a 63-year-old Austrian, was seriously injured in this accident and was trapped in the vehicle. “He had to be removed from the car by the fire service. After first aid, he was admitted to the Innsbruck clinic. A breath analysis test revealed significant intoxication,” the researchers continued.
Due to the accident, the Buchener Landesstraße was completely closed until 03:30 am. Several traffic control systems were damaged in the accident and the 63-year-old’s car was a total loss.
