In a traffic accident in Lustenau (Vorarlberg) involving four vehicles, the 82-year-old woman who caused the accident and two other drivers were seriously injured on Thursday. A passenger and her teenage children were also injured, police said. The two seriously injured drivers were trapped and had to be extricated from their vehicles by firefighters. They were hospitalized, as was the 82-year-old.
Shortly before 12:30 p.m., the senior was on Hohenemser Straße heading toward the city center when she came into the oncoming lane for unknown reasons. There she first hit an oncoming car before colliding head-on with two other vehicles. One of the cars ended up in the ditch.
The 82-year-old was flown by helicopter to Dornbirn hospital and the two freed drivers were taken to Dornbirn and Bregenz. The passenger and her children were also treated at the Bregenz hospital.
